Ah spring… Not only is there excitement in the air because plants are blooming and the sun is shining; but there is excitement in the real estate world because both buyers and sellers are entering one the busiest seasons in real estate trading.
If you are planning to list, sometimes it can feel overwhelming to think of all the tasks you should complete to get your home ready to go on the market. Where do you start? Let me share with you the 3 tasks you should complete before you even call your agent to sign paperwork!
1. De-clutter
Get your home ready for the staging and photography teams to come and showcase everything your home has to offer. De-cluttering will help give buyers a welcoming space where they can envision their future. Remember, showings are about the BUYER’S emotions, not the seller’s emotions.
2. Clean up the yard
People judge books by their cover and they WILL judge your home by its curb appeal. There is nothing worse than walking up to an open house and seeing rusted equipent or lingering animal poop on the lawn. Take time now to clean up any large objects and spruce up the landscaping. Do not miss out on giving your buyer a good first impression (it will pay!).
3. Pack away seasonal items
This one goes hand-in-hand with task number 1, but it takes it a step further. Don’t just fill the garage (or storage room) shelves with Christmas decor and winter coats. Instead, keep your storage spaces looking tidy by packing all seasonal items away in labeled boxes or bins. This will help those rooms look spacious and welcoming, and it will also help you be ahead of the game once you sell and begin packing!
What are the benefits of completing these tasks?
1. Your listing can go on the market quicker
2. You will have less things to do once buyers begin to schedule showings
3. Your home will look and feel more inviting- this gives buyers more reasons to pay full (or above) listing price!
